The University of Hyderabad figures in the 251 to 300 band of the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2026, keeping it in the company of well regarded Indian universities.

The latest rankings evaluated 929 universities from 36 countries and regions on key parameters such as teaching, research environment, research quality, industry engagement and international outlook.

The university reported strong results in academic reputation and research output, with contributions from chemistry and life sciences playing a major role in strengthening its citation impact. Its publication volume also played a key role in improving its overall position in the rankings.

UoH also reported steady growth in industry income, supported by rising consultancy work and increased patent activity. The institution’s efforts to attract talent from diverse backgrounds and to expand international academic collaborations further enhanced its performance.

In-charge Vice-Chancellor Prof J Anuradha said the university was encouraged by its progress in industry engagement and its continued strength in scientific research. The vice-chancellor added that the recognition reflects the institution’s focus on innovation, academic excellence, and contributing to the nation’s development, while reaffirming its commitment to sustained growth in the coming years.

Among other institutions from Telangana, the International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad was placed in the 201–250 band, Osmania University in the 401–500 band, the National Institute of Technology Warangal in the 501–600 band, and the ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education in the 601–800 band.
