Background
The All India Russian Education Fair 2026-27 is slated to be organized across Tamil Nadu for two successive days. The event gives students the chance to directly understand medical courses offered by Russia-based universities.
The participation of eight Russian universities is expected, and altogether, they offer a total of 10,000 seats for MBBS. Information related to the admissions process, curriculum, and scholarships would be available. Over 200 students could get 100% scholarship. It must be noted that entrance tests like CET or IELTS would not be required to join Russian universities.
Students of Indian origin who have passed NEET with 50% marks in science subjects can apply. For SC, ST, and OBC students, the minimum qualifying mark is 40%. Students from Tamil-medium educational backgrounds are also welcome to apply.
The Consul General of the Russian Federation in Chennai said Indian students have been studying in Russia for over 60 years, and Russia remains a top destination for those seeking medical education abroad. The Managing Director of Study Abroad Educational Consultants noted that annual fees at Russian universities can be as low as ₹3.5 lakh, making it one of the more affordable options for MBBS aspirants.
Russian universities, which include about 600 government institutions, currently host more than 300000 international students who come from 200 different countries, with Indian students representing the largest group. Authorities aim to grow this number to 5,00,000 by 2030.
The fair will travel across Tamil Nadu through mid-May, with stops in Madurai, Trichy, Salem, and Coimbatore. All sessions run from 10 AM to 5 PM, and entry is free.
