Key Background
In a milestone for Victoria University under India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has sent a Letter of Intent to establish a campus in India. This makes it the first Australian state university to have been cleared under India’s 2023 Foreign Higher Educational Institutions rules. Victoria University India Campus will be opening in mid-2027 in Noida, which is a burgeoning education and business hub of the National Capital Region.
Victoria University is also famous for its innovative VU Block Model®, an education that allows students to learn one subject in one block of time during an intensive four-week duration. The model will be Indianized to suit Indian students, and it will offer customized and industry-focused higher education. Undergraduate programmes in business, data science, cyber-security, and IT, as well as postgraduate programmes like an MBA and Master’s in Information Technology, will be available on the India campus.
This move is a consequence of India’s attempt to internationalize its education system according to NEP 2020. The reforms are opening the door for the development of world-ranked universities to ensure academic standard and reduce Indian students going abroad in search of quality education. Through this, Victoria University is at the heels of other foreign institutions moving to make a physical entry into India.
The university will collaborate with Indian industries and academe to keep its programs in tune with the country’s employment market as well as economic aspirations. It is a developing trend in Indo-Australian academic partnerships and positions India as a central point for global education in the future. The campus offers world-standard education, enhanced employability, and a mix of international and national learning experience.
