MVJ College of Engineering celebrated the resounding success of its 25th edition of the National Level Intercollegiate Cultural Fest – SWAYAM 2025, held on May 30th and 31st. With the theme ‘Virasat’, the fest was a spectacular celebration of India’s rich artistic and cultural legacy, bringing together students from across the nation in a vibrant confluence of talent, tradition, and creativity.
The two-day fest witnessed over 32 dynamic events spanning music, dance, drama, art, literature, and design, engaging thousands of enthusiastic participants and spectators. SWAYAM 2025 not only upheld the legacy of MVJCE’s cultural pursuits but also elevated the spirit of unity in diversity through its inclusive and immersive experiences.
A Grand Inauguration and Day 1 Highlights
The festivities began with a grand inauguration at the Dr. M.V Jayaraman Auditorium, graced by the presence of renowned Carnatic musician and Bharatanatyam dancer Mrs. Sivasri Skandaprasad, who was praised by the Prime Minister of India, Sri Narendra Modi for her beautiful rendition of her bhajans during the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Day 1 featured an eclectic lineup of events. Vocal Vistar enchanted the audience with soulful melodies, followed by bouts of laughter during the stand-up comedy sessions. The stage then exploded with energy through group and solo dance events like Parampara, Urban Nasha, and Nritya Veer, culminating in Swarnatyam, a grand fusion performance that seamlessly blended classical and contemporary styles.

Art, theatre, and intellect found their spotlight in venues across campus. Rangreka showcased innovative designs, Ekanki explored emotional depth through monoacting, and Crownference sparked spirited debate on contemporary issues. Events such as Painted Smiles (face painting), Waste to Wonder (recycled art), and Inkwell of the Unseen (sensory writing) further enriched the fest’s creative landscape.

Day 2: A Grand Finale of Performances and Passion
Day 2 maintained the momentum with a fresh lineup of stimulating events. The day opened with Echo and Beats, a powerful musical performance, and the poetic flair of The Poetic Gavel in a unique auction format. Simultaneously, Drishtikon displayed stunning visual storytelling through photography, while Turn Coat and Aircrash tested debating prowess and courtroom drama.

The celebration of movement continued with Groove Riot and Virasat Ki Jugalbandi, showcasing diverse dance forms, while Raahgiri, a gripping street play, captivated audiences at the Basketball Stage. Art continued to flourish with Doodle on Clay, Mandala Magic, and Rangoli Rhapsody adding color and creativity to the event.

Intellectual events like Kannada Kalarava, Elevate Pitch, and Katha Yatra highlighted regional literature, entrepreneurial spirit, and storytelling talent. The soulful Raag Rang and the impactful Drishyapat short film screenings added depth to the artistic expressions on display.
The fest drew to a close on a high note with the electrifying Battle of Bands with musical band, where student groups rocked the stage, leaving the audience mesmerized and craving for more. A total prize money of ₹4,00,000 was announced for the winners, adding to the excitement and competitive spirit of SWAYAM 2025.
A Cultural Mosaic of Legacy and Innovation
Beyond competitions, the campus buzzed with cultural exhibitions, food stalls, and an open house showcasing MVJCE’s 43-year journey of academic excellence. The fest was powered by the collaborative efforts of student clubs—Dhwani, Nrityatrix, Raagabhinaya, Sahitya, Aakriti, and Toast Masters—each contributing their unique flavor to the fest.
Mrs. Sivasri Skandaprasad appreciated the collaborative efforts behind the event, stating, “SWAYAM 2025 stands as a beacon of creativity, where students not only compete but connect, learn, and grow. It reflects the ethos of MVJCE—where tradition meets innovation.”
