MVJ College of Engineering Commemorated Founders’ Day 2025, honoring the Legacy of Dr. M. V. Jayaraman on 17th May 2025 at Dr. M. V. Jayaraman Auditorium at 10:30 AM paying homage to its visionary founder, Dr. M. V. Jayaraman. As a distinguished educationist, philanthropist, and scholar, Dr. Jayaraman played a vital role in shaping the landscape of quality education in Karnataka. His contributions to engineering education continue to inspire generations of students and faculty alike.
The ceremony commenced with a tribute video, allowing audience to reflect on Dr. Jayaraman’s profound contributions and lasting influence in education. The video showcased his journey, highlighting his role in establishing esteemed educational institutions and fostering an environment of excellence, innovation, and societal impact.
The event began with a traditional lamp-lighting ritual, a symbolic gesture representing knowledge and wisdom. This was followed by an invocation song performed by students, setting an atmosphere of reverence and celebration.

Dr. Shrinivas L. Gombhi, Dean Academics, delivered the welcome speech, warmly acknowledging the esteemed guests, faculty, students, and staff. His words resonated with the significance of the occasion, celebrating the institution’s journey and unwavering commitment to academic excellence.
The College Report, an essential highlight of the event, was presented by Principal, Dr. Ajayan K. R. He elaborated on the major milestones achieved over the past year, including academic achievements, research advancements, and accolades received across various departments and disciplines. This segment provided a comprehensive insight into the progress and impact of MVJ College of Engineering in the field of technical education.
Following the college report, Dr. M. Brindha, Dean, Administration delivered a thoughtful speech reflecting on Dr. Jayaraman’s mission. She emphasized how his legacy continues to shape the institution, reinforcing the values of quality education, innovation, and holistic development.
Adding a personal touch to the tribute, R. Muralidhara, one of the senior-most faculty members from the Department of Civil Engineering, shared fond memories and interactions with Dr. Jayaraman. His heartfelt anecdotes provided a deeply personal perspective, illustrating the visionary leadership and human touch that Dr. Jayaraman brought to education.
Taking the stage, Chief Guest, Mr. Nandakumar K., CEO of Sundaram Industries Pvt. Ltd., delivered a compelling and motivating speech. Drawing from his own professional journey, he emphasized the significance of people and purpose—values that strongly align with Founder’s vision for the institution. His message inspired attendees to embrace resilience, innovation, and leadership in their pursuits.

Following his keynote speech, Mr. Nandakumar K. was felicitated with a Ponnadai and a memento by the principal, in recognition of his contributions and presence at this momentous occasion.
The event also featured a reflection on the institution’s journey since its inception in 1982, celebrating its enduring legacy of excellence, progress, and transformative education. This segment offered a retrospective journey through the institution’s transformative growth since its inception in 1982, reinforcing its commitment to academic and technological advancements.
One of the most anticipated segments of the event was the prestigious award ceremony, recognizing outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements.
Well-deserved students were awarded certificates and cash awards in various categories including Autonomous rank holders, College topper, year-wise toppers, students obtaining more than 4 outstanding grades in the last years examinations, Vinay Deepak Memorial award to the topper in Mechanical Engineering, Amitesh Rahul award (instituted by alumnus Mr. Amitesh Rahul, Director of ADSAT ENGINEERS PRIVATE LIMITED and a 1987 batch Electronics and Communication Engineering graduate) for the 1st rank holder in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Other recognitions included the Best Outgoing Student, gold medalists in sports, state-level championship winners, outstanding players in various sports, and students excelling in cultural activities such as Music, Dance, Fine Arts, and Theatre.

Faculty members who have published their papers in top-indexed journals with very high impact factor received certificates and cash prize. Additionally, long-serving faculty members were honored for their dedication and contributions.
In total, 122 students and 43 staff members were honoured, receiving cash prizes amounting to Rs. 5 lakhs. Additionally, faculty members from the PUC college who achieved outstanding results were awarded appreciation certificates.
The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. I Hameem Shanavas, Dean-Student affairs expressing gratitude to all participants and reaffirming MVJ College of Engineering’s commitment to upholding the values set forth by its founder, Dr. M. V. Jayaraman.
