Background:
Kotak Education Foundation (KEF) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BharatGen Technology Foundation to improve education in India. The partnership aims to develop and deploy indigenous, multilingual AI solutions to improve learning outcomes and widen access to quality education.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Ganesh Raja, CEO of KEF, and Rishi Bahl, CEO of BharatGen, along with senior leaders from both organisations. The collaboration will focus on building a structured framework to expand AI-led tools across classrooms and education programmes supported by KEF.
Under the agreement, the two organisations will work on AI-enabled assessment and feedback systems to promote continuous learning. They also plan to introduce multilingual content delivery and vernacular support to make education more inclusive. The initiative will further develop hyper-personalised learning tools and teacher support systems, along with data-driven insights to strengthen academic planning and outcomes.
Ganesh Raja said the partnership represents a major step toward building a scalable, India-focused AI ecosystem in education. He added that combining technology with strong on-ground implementation will help ensure AI solutions remain accessible and meaningful for teachers and students across diverse regions.
Rishi Bahl said BharatGen is building sovereign AI models rooted in Indian languages and classrooms to address education challenges at scale.
KEF, the primary implementing agency for the CSR initiatives of Kotak Mahindra Group, runs programmes across Maharashtra and parts of Gujarat. Its work includes school programs, scholarships like Kotak Kanya and Kotak Junior, and vocational training through the Unnati project. The foundation now plans to expand from individual schools to district- and state-level initiatives, aiming to create long-term impact across India.
