Background:

AIMS for Seva marked its 25th anniversary with a gala in California, raising $2 million for rural children’s education and healthcare. Founded on the vision of Swami Dayananda Saraswati, AIMS continues to bring value-based education to underserved communities.

On November 15, over 700 people attended the gala at Campbell Heritage Theatre, which included a 90-minute classical dance performance called Om Namo Narayanaya, directed by Anitha Guha from Chennai. The performance alone raised $1.1 million for a new school in Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh. Overall, AIMS Bay Area has raised $2 million in 2025, funding student sponsorships and new infrastructure projects.

Vijay Kapoor, who launched the Bay Area chapter with a small group of volunteers, highlighted the organization’s growth from a handful of hostels to 95 chatralayas and full-scale K-12 schools, now supporting 4,000 students and providing education to 10,000 children in remote areas. “Swamiji’s vision was that education can transform lives. Today, our work continues seamlessly because of the strong foundation he set,” Kapoor said.

Longtime supporters Annayya and Shylaja Deshpande highlighted how the chatralaya model provides students with food, shelter, and access to quality education. Donors and volunteers said AIMS helps people help children, especially girls.

Performers showed how their art supports AIMS’ mission of service and devotion.

Starting from humble beginnings, AIMS has grown into an important force in rural education, showing how community support, cultural involvement, and dedication can make a real difference in India’s underserved areas.
